Why Are You Afraid of Getting Old?

Vincent Rager

So, you’re 365 days older now. How are you feeling upon turning a year older? You might be afraid, not wanting to celebrate, wondering about the hitches of the future, or thinking about your job that some 20 years old young lad will get your seat.

Well, if you just think for a while that we are not alone in this whole process, maybe you feel relieved. Upon asking, why you are so anxious; the most received answer is, it seems we hadn’t accomplished anything yet. However, it is natural to feel like this since only you can see that today you are a better version of your past.

Are you scared of death?

There is nothing we can do about it but deep down every other person is scared of death. Some might have lost their parents this year; some lost their best friend while some saw their partner going but all this is a part of life.

Death is natural but the best you can do right now is to enjoy your life to the best of it. It’s what makes life worth so much more. The thing to ponder upon is, death is not here to scare you but to make you remind that every beginning has an end.

Embrace the beauty of Aging

The most common fear is that one day you’ll wake up and see wrinkles and fine lines on your forehead, around your eyes, or even on your cheeks around the mouth. But embracing the beauty of aging will not only give you eternal satisfaction but you will see you are smarter than your yesterday.

If you are living well, you are in your prime even at 45. Think, relationships get better with age no matter what sort of relationship you talk about. In today’s era when everything seems superficial, you need to not let yourself down in any case. You may be happier with your age as you grow older.

Fear of physical detrition

Along with fine lines, wrinkles, and death; many people have fear of physical detrition that is quite normal. But is it something that should make you lose interest in everything? There are numerous examples of people out there who are balancing everything in a manner that you don’t limit yourself to a certain age upon looking them.

So, now there’s nothing left to fear after reading this piece of text, right? No more fear about growing old. All this is just a matter of number, the whole sparkling spirit is inside you and you can do whatever suits you, without any hesitation.

How Depression And Anxiety Are Perceived Today?

Dr. Vincent Rager
Depression and anxiety have become quite common these days. A number of people are having these issues and a good trend is being set with people visiting psychologists and psychiatrists to resolve their issues. In previous times, people were least concerned about their mental health owing to the lack of awareness. Most of the mental diseases were left untreated and people were not aware of their harsh consequences. Your mental health is linked to your physical health and proper definition of a healthy person includes physical as well as mental health.

Stay in touch with your family and friends:

There are many cases in which people having depression and unaware of the fact that this particular thing can add tremendous changes to their life. As they are unaware of the potential risks of depression, they start feeling down and start distancing themselves from people surrounding them. The first thing they do is that they withdraw from life.

The first thing to avoid is withdrawal from life. Staying in touch with family and friends leave a positive impact on your life and you become aware of your importance and worth. Since they know you at various levels, they are quite familiar with your goals and the things that you always wanted to do. Thus, this allows them to stay in touch with you and analyze your situation. Since they examine you as a neutral party, they can predict your problem and can take you to a good psychiatrist as well. Other than that, they can leave a positive impact on your life.

Stay active and have a realistic approach:

Staying active helps you in several ways. You can start by doing any exercise and then change it into a full-fledged workout routine. Exercise plays a great role in making your mood a positive one. One can lift his or her mood by exercising. You can check it by going for a walk.

Your environment determines your health to some extent and one must make sure that the environment around him is positive. Negative vibes can add to your depression and one must learn the basic tips of self-love in this regard.

3 Major Factors Triggering Mental Disorders

Dr. Vincent Rager
Although the main reason causing mental disorders is not known yet, different researches and studies are now helping to find out various factors that might contribute to a person’s mental illness. It has been revealed that mental disorders may get triggered by different biological, environmental and psychological factors. In this article, we will be highlighting what biological, environmental and psychological factors may give rise to mental disorders.

Biological factors:

Heredity:

Sometimes your family has a history in a certain kind of mental illness. A person may experience a mental disorder just because someone in his family has experienced the same disorder is the past. Since the illness is passed on through genes, it is not possible to escape.

Poor diet:

A lot of times patients end up under bad mental conditions because they are not taking good care of their diet. People who consume unhealthy food or do not take their meals properly are more prone to mental disorders.

Substance abuse:

Some people also experience mental disorders because they have been involved in substance abuse (drugs) for a long time.

Infections:

Some infections might also result in mental disorders.

Environmental factors:

Divorce:

Divorce can be a traumatic period for anyone; leaving a bad impact on the mind and contributing to a person’s mental disorder. Many times people end up in an obnoxious and unpleasant state of mind after they experience divorce.

Death of a loved one:

Another factor causing to a person’s mental disorder is the death of a closed one. No one among us would ever want to lose people we love and when we do, we feel devastated. We feel as if we have lost a part of ourselves by losing that person. Such feelings are so strong that they might leave a bad impact on the mental health of a person.

Psychological factor:

Serious psychological trauma:

There are a great number of people around us who have faced some severe kinds of mental traumas in the form of physical, mental or sexual abuse. Such people are more likely to develop a mental disorder.

A big loss in life:

Sometimes big losses in life leave people so broken and they find it really hard to fight back tough circumstances.

The Impact of Media – A Psychological Review

Vincent Rager
Media, when all is said in done, can be portrayed in basic terms, similar to a motion picture was great, the book was miserable, or the Internet is enlightening, and how did we ever live without it!
Therapists, then again, take a gander at media from a hypothetical point of view by conveying social subjective speculations to media (which recommends that people are proactively engaged with their advancement, and can, hence, practice command over their sentiments, considerations, and activities).

At the end of the day, Media Psychology centers on the connection between human conduct and the media. However, on the grounds that the field of psychology is so new and dynamic, profession ways are hard to characterize. Contestants into this field have both the rush and the weight of characterizing its advancement.

As each new innovation is presented, media psychology transforms to meet the intellectual and humanistic parts of the client's involvement. What therapists cannot deny is that innovations are all over, and individuals of any age use innovation.

Furthermore, since innovation is setting down deep roots, more seasoned individuals stress over its utilization by more youthful individuals, and everybody stresses if all of media and innovation is great or awful, or (in all probability) someplace in the middle.
Psychology of Facebook and other Social Media
Over the past ten years, Facebook has become one of the most popular online sites ever.
A recent study found that heavy Facebook users experience a decrease in subjective well-being over time.  Many users become depressed with their lack of success, or they may envy a friend’s successes more. Maybe one person’s Facebook profile doesn’t have as many likes or followers, and so they feel inadequate or unequal.  Some people become jealous of others, unhappy with their current circumstances, and ultimately fall into an on-going depression.

Media Psychology and TV

As a society, on average, we spend nearly seven hours a day as ‘couch potatoes’ planted comfortably in front of the television, or in front of our computers downloading the latest movie on Amazon. A study by ThinkBox explains that television satisfies our emotional needs: for comfort, to unwind, to escape, indulge, or simply for the experience.
As media psychologists continue to study the phenomenon of media, the implications of media persuasion, how media influences our interpretation of information, we will begin to better understand how to use and develop technologies to communicate, connect, interact, discuss, and discover new things.

With exercise, some such chemical is generated in the body that helps you feel good and positive. Exercise helps you feel good all day long, you feel fresh and you also become able to lessen the intensity of your stress or depression.

Get your engaged in something you enjoy:

Another smart strategy for dealing with depression is that you should start engaging yourself in something that you love to do right after you feel that you are getting into depression. Make sure that you find for yourself some tasks that you really enjoy getting g engaged in. we all love doing something. Some enjoy reading, some like to do gardening, while some like to watch movies and so on. Try to do something you enjoy so that you can control the level of your stress or depression by focusing on something else.

Keep yourself surrounded by people:

When you are depressed, you should try to stay in a group of people because in such a state when you isolate yourself, it becomes very difficult for you to get out of the phase. Try to look for people you can talk to. Always find someone that you really like talking to you. You can call your friends or anyone you can trust.

How Can You Get Your Depression Treated?

Vincent Rager
Depression is not a disease that you can ignore because it can take many lives. You have to pay attention to it once you start to feel that it is disturbing your day to day activities. A lot of people do not pay considerable attention to the treatment of this disease and they feel that depression is not real. They also feel that depression is something that you can treat by yourself. Though in minor cases, you can take control of your mind by your own but you need to bear this in mind that there are certain cases where it is important to go to the doctor to get yourself checked properly. The doctor can tell what you can do and what you should avoid. The right kind of treatment will help you feel normal again soon. There are a number of treatments that doctors may suggest you take based on the condition of a person. Some of the treatments for depression have been stated in this article.

Psychotherapy:

In some cases, doctors just ask the patient to get a psychotherapy. In minor cases of depression, you have not prescribed any medicines; rather the doctor sends you to a therapist to whom you can talk to and share your problems with. The therapist in return helps you feel better by telling what you should be doing in certain situations and what you should be avoiding.

Medicines:

In certain cases, the patients have to get the medicine along with the psychotherapy. Sometimes the patient cannot get treated by relying only on the therapies because there are certain issues that cannot be solved by merely talking with the therapists. In such cases, the patients are given medicines and also therapies so that they can recover soon and feel normal again.

Cognitive behavioral therapy:

This is another kind of treatment of depression which is prescribed by the doctor to patients who have behavioral issues. This treatment helps the patient feel better in the way that their behavior starts to get normal and they feel good again.

Self-help:

Self-help is another treatment that you can use as a treatment of depression. A lot of times self-help can work for you and you can start feeling good again.
